8 principles for the selection of parting surface

The quality of the separated surface in the injection mold has a great influence on the quality of the plastic parts and the machining performance. Therefore, the following 8 principles should be considered comprehensively when selecting the parting surface of injection mold:

1.To ensure that the product can be taken out of the mold, the position of the parting surface should be selected in the product demoulding direction of the maximum projection edge shadow position. 

2.For the appearance of the parts, the mold parting can not affect the appearance, and the appearance quality and accuracy should be ensured. 

3.Ensure that the product can stay in the mold after mold opening, conducive to demoulding, and side core-pulling. 

4.Ensure the quality of the product and the strength and rigidity of the parts when forming. 

5.Considering the clamping force of the mold, place the direction of the large projection area of the product on the direction of the front and back mold closing.

6.Injection mold structure should be as simple as possible, if the plastic part shape is special, the parting surface is designed to be flat, the bottom of the cavity will not be easy to work. If the parting surface is designed as an inclined or curved surface so that the bottom of the cavity becomes a horizontal plane, it is easy to process.

7.The gas in the cavity can be discharged smoothly, the main discharge method is to set the discharge groove on the parting surface. Therefore, the separation surface should be at the end of the melt flow. If the parting surface is too close to the gate, it is easy to cause poor ventilation.

8.The equipment can be fully and reasonably used, and the parting surface should avoid long distance core-pulling, the transverse core-pulling of a typical injection mold is achieved by opening the mold motion. When the core is pulled through the mold core pulling mechanism, the distance to complete the core pulling is limited to a limited opening stroke. Therefore, for plastic parts with holes or grooves in two directions perpendicular to each other, long distance pulling of the core should be avoided.
